A place with a soul. Looking for silence and beauty. Visit the Major Seminary of Bruges and discover BIBLIA.
Former Dune Abbey
The Major Seminary is a unique place to discover the secrets of the Bible. For centuries the Biblie was read and lived, first by the monks and later, until today, by teachers and students. Located in the beautiful Potterierei, a mere 15 minute walk from the city centre, you will find the walled complex of the former Dune Abbey. Walk through the grand gate and experience the quietness and calmness. You enter via the atrium and feel how the glorious history comes to life.
Cloister aisle
One of the most remarkable and impressive show places is the monumental cloister aisle. It gives you acces to the heart of the abbey and there, in the Chapter Room and two neighbouring rooms, you will find Biblia, the new Biblical Experience Centre. We challenge you to step into a story, to discover, to gain new insights and to experience the richness of different Biblical topics.
Klaas Verplancke and Arevik d’Or know how to appeal to young and old thanks to their internationally appreciated drawing and animation art. Their talents have been commissioned by The New Yorker, The New York Times, Pentagram, MoMA, Marc O’Polo and more top clients worldwide.
Their illustrations and animations give poetic depth to the journey through the world of the Bible. The story of Abraham, Moses and Jezus is very contemporary and gives life and meaning to people who are committed to building a society where peace and justice reign. These characters tell us their experiences.
